It is With great sadness we note the passing of the Godfather of SKA Laurel Aitken. Bim Skala Bim had the great pleasure of being able to both enjoy him as a performer and perform with him in concert. We will all miss him and the time we spent together riding that train to Skaville. Rock on, Keep skanking and lets all raise a toast to this ounce in a lifetime artist. Cheers Laurel and thanks for all you have shared with us.

Many thanks to Desorden Publico for bringing us down to perform in their beautiful country
We all had a great time and want to thank everyone we met down there. Caracas is an incredible city and the people are very friendly and the beer is cheap...what more could you ask for...well how about several thousand fans dancing around on a warm summer night and some of the best ska you will ever hear being played by long time Venezuelan Ska veterans Desorden Publico. We hope to play with them again sometime somewhere down the road. Do yourself a favour and look around for some CDs from these guys and add them to your collections.
Desorden Publico performing in Valencia
We have been having fun playing down in the cape (Cape Cod) this summer as usual and had the pleasure of doing a couple of shows with Dave Wakelings English Beat. We also had the chance to play for free in Davis square Somerville, birthplace of Bim Skala Bim, for the Artbeat Festival. And we all had a blast playing at a brand new club in Newport RI, J.J.s Oasis, thank you for the great cook out and all the hospitality from Butchy, Franky, and co.
The band went into the studio in early April of 99 and started work on eight tracks. Seven original and one cover "Easy Skankin" for the Beloved Records release of the same title (due March 2000). Handling trombone work was John Ferry with a special guest appearance by Dana Colley of Morphine playing baritone sax.
This past June we returned to the studio with longtime trombonist Vinny Nobile, and recorded 14 more tracks, some appearing on the latest album "krinkle" now available, the rest to appear on another release from Beatville Records due out late in the year.
What Rolling Stone said about KRINKLE
Bim Skala Bim Krinkle (Beatville)
Though they hail from the same ska-punk scene in Boston as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bim Skala Bim have never enjoyed the kind of sales as their brethren. But don't confuse commercial success with artistic success, the latter of which the Bim boys have had in spades. On this, the other B.S.B. -- who are stylistically closer to Sublime and the Toasters than any boy band -- deliver more than a dozen slices of British-style ska reminiscent of the
Specials and Madness. Happy, peppy and horny, their tunes "Step Up To Me" and "Long Way" sound like the kind drunken frat rats love to pogo too, while the laid-back reggae-influenced rhythms of "Food for the Soul" and their catchy cover of Gershwin's "Popcorn" will give rude boys a chance to catch their breath.
